How God the Father has Approached You
Ephesians 2:4-9
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Contrary to the perception of some, God the Father is not peering down from heaven, judging your every action (John 5:22).
According to Ephesians 2, God your Father:
- saved you by His grace
- made you alive with Christ
- loves you with great love
- is rich in mercy
- seated you in heavenly places with Christ
Growing up, your interaction with your [imperfect] biological father will have a profound effect on you, and a human tendency is to shape our concept of God the Father on the basis of our relationship with our biological father. God the Father is perfect, and you have the gift of Scripture that helps you understand what He is like (1 Peter 1:3, James 1:17).
I invite you to meditate on this song from Jude 1:24:
Verse 1
Now unto Him
Who is able to keep,
Able to keep you from falling.
And present you faultless
Before the Presence of His Glory
With exceeding joy.
Verse 2
To the only wise God our Saviour
Be glory and majesty,
dominion and power,
both now and forever
Amen
